Tastes Like Awesome |
a seriously delicious food blog |
We’ve covered cupcakes before (and undoubtedly will again), so here’s another for the collection. Cāko in San Francisco, CA is responsible for these delicious little cups of cake. They have a bunch of awesomely yummy flavours to choose from, but our personal faves were Red Velvet (natch) and Smores. SMORES! These bad little babies are SO good! With a sweet marshmallow top (toasted to perfection), moist chocolate cake and a buttery Graham cracker base, you’ll be experiencing all the joy of a campfire, but without those pesky mosquitos. Next time you’re in the “City by the Bay”, definitely swing by Cāko.
We like to think everyone knows that cupcakes are thoroughly awesome. The ones at Charmed Cupcakes in Long Beach, CA could surely sway the naysayers. While they have many flavours to choose from, including: Vanilla, Chocolate, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Banana Chocolate Chip, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and the like; our hearts (and our tummies) were won over by this hot little cake classic - German Chocolate. The cake is moist but not too sweet, and the topping… oh, the topping… it’s a perfect blend of sweetness, coconut and almonds in a thick, gooey deliciousness that’s got a bit of a soft crunch to it. These suckers are pretty big, but just one bite of the German Chocolate and you’ll be begging for more! For serious, wir lieben Charmed Cupcakes!
Deli bakeries are always a hot bed for deliciously awesome cookie activity, and the cookies at Giuliano’s Deli & Bakery in Torrance, CA are no exception. So it wasn’t really a surprise when we stumbled upon the Hope’s Royale cookies in the case. They’re a mix of Coconut, Chocolate, Macadamia Nut and (you guessed it)… Awesome!
These bad boys are delightfully chewy and oh so edible, you’ll be going back for more. (It’s okay, we won’t judge you. In fact, we’ll see you in line!)
If you’ve ever been to The Melting Pot, you know that place is over-the-top delicious. (And if you haven’t, well - it’s a whole lot of cheese, bread and meat - you do the math.)
But if you’ve never tried the Yin & Yang Martini, well then you haven’t really lived, my friend. It’s described as “the perfect balance”. The ingredients? Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur, Stoli Vanil vodka and ice cream topped with chocolate shavings. One sip of this tasty concoction will have you saying with fervour, “I’LL HAVE THREE MORE, THANKS.”

You’re gonna wanna check out these buns. They put the SIN back in Cinnamon!
These sexy buns belong to Ree Drummond, better known as The Pioneer Woman. The aroma alone is enough to render your mouth watery and once you take that first bite words become less articulated and more paralinguistic utterances. Among the most popular are “Mmmmm” and “Om-nom-nom”. You can find the recipe at The Pioneer Woman. You can also find the same recipe but with different, practically pornographic pictures at Bakerella.
If you ever find yourself in Seattle, WA, get yourself down to Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream shop. It’s seriously so delicious and everyone in town knows it - there’s always a line. But who could argue? With flavours like Maple Walnut, Balsamic Strawberry and Starburst (yes, just like the candy!) you’ll need the time in line just deciding on which one to get. YUM!
